One of the guys had a new baby this week and I was reminded of stories I’ve heard about when sisterdear was born and my reaction to the whole situation.

I think it’s important for parents to prep the first child for the appearance of the second, I’m sure my parents prepped me extensively. I know I was told that she was coming, and that she was in MiniMommy’s stomach etc etc.

While they explained the whole hospital thing and going there to get my baby sister, they neglected to tell me one specific thing. Apparently I believed that it was much like shopping. They took me over to the hospital and up to the nursery window to see my new baby sister. Operating on the assumption that I could pick any baby sister I wanted from that whole “display” of them, I told them that I wanted the little african american baby with all the fun hair.

When they explained it didn’t work like that and that my sister was the little pale one with the cone head thanks to the forceps they had to use to extract her I was not pleased. I believe if memory serves that I pitched a little hissy fit in the hospital at that point screaming that I WANTED THE OTHER BABY. Sorry SisterDear, I was only 2 1/2.
