brilliant post. this is another disappointing thing to see happening. you know this pledge won't mean that much after they're in college for a couple of years and have learned a bit more. it's almost a cult-like indoctrination - get 'em when they're young and they don't know enough about life to know what a bad idea this is. who is actually doing this? who is naive enough to believe that during a session of heavy petting in their twenties they'll think back to a sweet little dance they had with their father several years prior? i have a feeling that isn't going to come up - 'cause your dad isn't gonna be much on your mind at that point.

it's more likely an effort by the religious right to address teenage pregnancy - and since they can't officially say "go have safe sex" because they promote abstinence, they have to say "don't have sex until you're married". sure. that's fine. but for chrissakes teach 'em about birth control. sex is not evil. you might wanna teach 'em that too.

and where ARE the Winner Balls (pledge not to be a loser), the Individuality Balls (pledge not to conform for the sake of conformity), the Vows Actually Mean Something Balls (pledge to actually keep your pledges), etc?
