When A1 and I got engaged I swore I wouldn’t get all crazy like some women do when they’re getting married. Wedding planning, yeah I can handle that no problem- it can’t be hard at all right?
I started early, SisterDear and MiniMommy thought I was in fact crazy given how early I’d started doing things like picking a dress (nearly 6 months it took that dress to come in), picking a veil (it’s been a good 6 months since I ordered that and it’s STILL not in), buying wedding bands (A-1’s is here, mine was incorrectly ordered and after 6 weeks of waiting for the wrong one to arrive we’re now in week 4 of waiting for the RIGHT one to show up). I am a little over two months out from the “big day” and there’s not a single thing that’s truly done about the wedding with the exception of my photographer who is booked and fully paid with the exception of the money we still owe once the pictures come in.
I’ve got all the invitations which came assembly required with their pretty little ribbons attached. However I’ve yet to address anything more than about 20 of the response card envelopes and not a single one is fully put together yet. They have to go out by the 22nd of this month so that we can get response cards back in time to get a head count out to the caterer. That’s right, 180 things left to address by hand and put stamps on and all 100 invitations to still assemble and only a week to get it done. By assemble I mean first finish folding stuffing addressing and stamping response cards. These smaller envelopes get put in a bigger envelope that will also be stuffed with the actual invitation, and direction cards which I still have to cut out of the fancy paper I printed them on this morning, and also the liner which serves no real purpose that I can see. Then this mid size envelope is put in a larger envelope which has to be addresses with both my own and the invitees address and then stamped as well. Yeah we’ll see how that goes.
A1 and groomsmen finally have tuxes, however only one bridesmaid has her dress, and my grandmother has her outfit. Neither mother has found anything yet, nor has second bridesmaid and I’m trying to long-distance explain to my eldest cousin in Florida that no the backless cut down to your bellybutton in the front prom dress in bright orange red is not an appropriate outfit to wear to my wedding.
We still have the entire ceremony portion to get down on paper, as we’re being married by a friend there’s no mandatory ceremony that has to be read so it’s a build your own thing. There’s also readings to select as again we don’t have the religous time fillers in there it would probably be benificial to add some readings in to make the ceremony more than a 5 minute job and to include additional people in the “event”.
There’s also the ceremony decorations, the aisle runner, and assorted other things left to order. It’s making my head hurt. With just over two months left to go I can feel the crazy stressed out bitch coming out in me. Suddenly I understand the whole bridezilla thing
